The benevolent fraternity of Michael R Perrys

Michael R Perrys are everywhere. There's one in my home town who's always turning up in the local paper's Court Log for stealing bicycles. There's one who writes and executive produces Law & Order episodes. We wear many hats.

A while back my mom tried to send me an email but she got the address wrong and the message went to a different MRP. Most people would've probably just deleted the message. But not a MRP (or Murp, as we are sometimes called). Here's how he responded:

Dear Ms. ______:

Good luck with your project, however I believe you are seeking the assistance of a different Michael R Perry. We Michael R Perrys are a diverse and capable group, numbering in the thousands, barely aware of each other for the most part but always ready to defend the name. The Michael R Perry you have contacted lives in California and recommends that you seek editorial assistance from one of your local Michael R Perrys who will probably be more familiar with the specifics of your case. We Michael R Perrys live to serve.

Sincerely

Michael R Perry
But Not The One You Think

I'm surprised this kind of mistaken e-identity doesn't happen more often. Or does it?
